Finally Here

Author's Note: This poem is based off of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  It's supposed to show how Harry's life starts out disappointing and ambiguos, but it all changes when Hagrid takes him away to be a student at the magical school called Hogwarts.

After years of dreaming,
After years of despair,
After years of feebleness,
It's finally here.

I searched for an answer,
I searched for a chance,
I searched for a solution,
That's finally here.

Taken away from misery,
Taken away from longing,
Taken away from pain,
I'm finally here.

Now I have friendship,
Now I have hope,
Now I have opportunity,
Home is finally here.

  1. That was good I liked how the "... is finally here" repeated itself. You could even expand it as to make the emotions more noticed.

  2. I love how you repeated "is finally here" too. You told like a whole other story, but it had a lot of emotion/feeling too. It's really cool how you balanced it that way.

  3. This has some nice elements of poetry going on. Being familiar with the books and the series, as most people are, do you think you could have even something more, or different, that showed an independent interpretation of the character of Hagrid? That is one of the things we want to show; when we read, we bring something to the process as an individual, something to the interpretation as we reflect on the text. If you can have that element, your response gains value.

  4. I really liked this poem. I think it's cool how you took it from a not-so-good part, to a good part. Also as Sam said, I think you could expand it to make it more detailed and explanatory, but otherwise it was really awesome!

  5. I like this and not just because I love the books. The repetitiveness in this piece is nice but I think you could be more explanatory in it since most of us are familiar with the books. Good Job!!!

  6. Add more emotion but the repetition is excellent. Expanding this wouldn't hurt either.

  7. Reading this the second time, I really like it even more than the first. The poetic elements are so tight, so controlled and purposeful, tha tit works extremely well as both a poem, and as a critical piece focusing on the theme of the series. Excellent.
